doctor who-ness?

So, Closing Time was practically a sequel to Season 5’s The Lodger which is a episode I was terribly fond of, even if it didn't add much to the season. I just love when The Doctor spends a lot of time among humans. Especially Eleven because he tries so hard to fit in/be normal/average human but he’s THE DOCTOR, he doesn't do normal. Plus Craig and Sophie were fjkhsdfadorable.

I was delighted to see Craig again, especially seeing him deal with being a dad. Perhaps I have a cruel side, but I found his freakouts about dealing with a baby hilarious. Though I have to say from the sound of it, he and Sophie have possibly given birth to the coolest kid ever if The Doctors one sided conversations are anything to go by. Grown up Alfie for future companion, yes?

The adventure in this episode was rather out of the blue but apparently there’s a rule in the Doctor Who universe that we have to see either Cybermen or Daleks at least once per season since we had Daleks last season I guess it was Cybermen’s turn? Luckily the hijinks made up for lack luster adventure. We got to see The Doctor work in a department which working retail, that was.. interesting. It looks like a fun job :p Val was just freaking awesome by the way. I mean she practically was all “oh go make out boys, I’ll watch your baby for you.” I bet she’s the most awesome grandma ever.

Along with the silly plot, this dealt a lot with Eleven (I almost wrote Ten..heh that’s what I get for re-watching episodes) and closure for him. He’s about to go off to be shot after all and he knows it so it’s sort of him saying his goodbyes or having one last hurrah before he goes. During the ep he happened to see Amy and Rory (who apparently live nearby?) and man, I just wanted to hug him he looked so happy and sad at the same time. Seriously, Matt Smith knocks it out of the park for this show.

Ending was typical Doctor Who-ness, but it was sweet and had some nice character growth/closure? for Craig. Then we see that the stetson and envelopes The Doctor sends to the gang in the season’s first ep came from Craig. It’s almost time for him to die. ;sobs; :'(((
Then, THEN, we cut to River. Then evil eyepatch lady (seriously what was her name? Is it bad I don’t remember?) shows up and turns out River’s programing hasn’t gone away and they put her IN AN ASTRONAUT SUIT. River is the one that shot the Doctor. Granted I suspected but I hate being right about this one. Oh man, season finale is going to hurt isn’t it?

  2. The episode was so bittersweet. Hilarious with Stormageddom and Craig, but the Doctor's time is running out... AH!

    THESE GIFS ARE AMAZING.
